Half Term Holidays with the kids

Catalunya is a tourist hot spot during the summer months, but for most of us that live here, it's just a little too warm to do anything except go to the beach in July and August. Out of season, you'll find no crowds, warm water and cool, comfortable nights. School half term October holidays in the sun are a lot cheaper and Casa Cal Domino is a sustainable Villa with solar power backed up with solar virtual battery for the nights, solar powered pool filtration and solar heated domestic water.

Autumn colours in St Celoni de Montseny

It's the perfect time to come and enjoy the Costa Brava and Catalunya without the excessive heat and crowds. It's also Autumn here and peak hiking season. The average sea temperature is 21ºC, the average air temperature is also 21ºC and at night a comfortable 14ºC. Most days, you'll still need sun cream to eat a long lazy lunch on a terrace by the sea, and of course, people swim here all through the year. If a sea temperature of 21ºC is too cold for you, you can always relax in our heated infinity pool which we guarantee will be a minimum of 26ºC until the end of October. The Jacuzzi is always heated to 38ºC and the sauna is also available.

A stunning walk along the Cami de Ronda

You'll find the beaches and the cami de ronda (coastal path) all but empty and no waiting time at the cafés and restaurants.

Great hiking in the low Pyrenees around the lakes

There is so much to do here, you will be spoilt of choice. Walking around the lake at the Panta de Sau or the lake at Banyoles.

Sant Ferran fortress, one of the best napoleonic fortresses in Europe

Visiting the amazing Napoleonic fortress Sant Ferran at Figueres or the Napoleonic fortress of Montjuïc in Barcelona.

One of the little fishing villages on the Cami de Ronda

Hiking the Cami de Ronda.

A lovely day out in the Medieval city of Girona with it's roman baths and Jewish quarter

Visiting the amazing city of Girona with its Roman walls still intact and the greek and Jewish sectors with cobbled streets and boutique shops or going to Barcelona for the day to see the Sagrada Familia, the Rambles all without the dreaded pickpockets that plague the summer months.

Abandoned church and panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea

Visiting the Cap de Creus National park which is home to St Pere de Roses Monastery, State Helena church and the beautiful village of Cadaques where Salvadore Dali spent his formative years.

White washed village on the Mediterranean coast in Catalunya

Or, just relax at your home away from home. Should you need it, Casa Cal Domino is fully double glazed, has natural gas central heating and a log fireplace in the main lounge for cosy nights in front of the fire. All are available and included in the price, but it doesn't really get cold here at night until January / February.
